Congress Fails on Minimum Wage

The Albany Times Union and the Daily News (2nd item) both editorialize today on Congress's failure to increase the minimum wage, in stark comparison to the New York state legislature's action last year.

Why can't Congress do the right thing? Would it help if the Dems made increasing the MW a higher priority? Or, um, another political party increased in its national scale? I say yes and yes.

A WFP in some key states could really put the pressure on about 8-10 GOP Senators.

Seriously, if the Democrats won't organize a resistance against the Republicans' War on Work, then someone has to.

and lets be careful about the Santorum bill and other such minimum wage "raising" bills, that would nominalyl raise the rate but drastically slash its applicablity and the state's abaility to do more the fed.

so much for state's rights.
