Countdown to House Minimum Wage Increase

The U.S. House of Representatives has started the clock on their first 100 hours. The House vote to raise the minimum wage is scheduled for tomorrow the 10th.

After one day, over 650 New Yorkers have taken action to support a clean bill to raise the minimum wage without special favors or budget-busting tax cuts slipped in.

Here are some facts on who a minimum wage increase would help:
  • Most of the people working for minimum wage are the main breadwinners for their familes.
  • 79% of the people helped by a minimum wage increase are adults
  • 56% of the people helped by a minimum wage increase work full time
  • 83% of the people helped by a minimum wage increase work over 20 hours a week
  • 61% of the people helped by a minimum wage increase are women
